If ever a band were to be cousins from North of the border to Black Stone Cherry, it would be Monster Truck. These energetic rockers certainly know how to smash it out the park when it comes to all things fuzz related, and with a sound so big it matches their name, they deserve to be taken notice of.
‘Warriors‘ sees the band return with their fourth album, it’s honed, it’s hard, it’s everything you could want and more. Their sound is just filled with classic tones of olde, full on good feelin’ rock and roll. It hits the tarmac at 100 miles an hour with the opening title track, and from that point on it’s a case of just holding on for the next 30 minutes. There are tips of the hat to Black Sabbath with Fuzz Mountain, and soon there’s heavy rocking swagger galore by the time you get to Love Free. No track outstays its welcome, they fly by almost as fast as they start, it’s a short ride, but when the volume is up, who cares?
Country Livin’ sounds like it was written down in the south with the Black Stone Cherry lads with its sliding guitar and whisky soaked lyrics, a true southern song, Skynyrd style. Whilst talking of the bands of the days gone by, Get My Things & Go is as hot as you like with some ZZ Top roots (funnily enough, after reading the liner notes, the track guests BSC‘s very own Chris Robertson!) Warriors is just the gift that keeps giving. Closing out the album is ‘Still Got Fire’, and if an album title could sum Monster Truck up, that would be it, they definitely still got fire!
The production and sound is just immense, this deserves to be loud, let your neighbour know who it is, if they don’t appreciate the short half an hour, you can always turn it up a little more! This is Monster Truck, and they are back!
Monster Truck hit the road in the UK with Welsh rockers Those Damn Crows across 12 dates starting today! (The 29th of September). We cannot implore you enough on how much you need to buy a ticket and catch this tour!
‘Warriors’ is out from September 30th, a must buy record of the year!
