The L.I.F.E. Project, a creation from the minds of multi-instrumentalist Josh Rand, better known for his guitarwork in Stone Sour, and vocal powerhouse, Casandra Carson of Paralandra, have released new single ‘Dying of the Light’ after the joys of debuting the track live whilst on tour with Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin and Bush.
Casandra spoke of her thoughts on the reaction to the track being performed before its release; “I love being able to play a new song live before releasing it, because you can actually watch people’s reactions to it in real time – it’s like getting an honest, firsthand opinion. ‘Dying of the Light’ definitely turned some heads on this last tour. It’s not often that the crowd hears a song for the first time and is singing along by the last chorus, so I’d say it went over really well!”
The LI.F.E. Project is a step away from the sounds of Stone Sour for Josh Rand, but no step backward as the band takes a more progressive, and classic approach whilst retaining heaviness. Speaking of the newly released single, the writing abilities speak for themselves with Josh: “Sometimes the best songs just put themselves together. That’s how I feel with ‘Dying of the Light’. I had the basic song structure down within about 30 minutes, everything just came together.”
